A Bobble Stitch is a group of (half completed) stitches, usually treble stitches (US double crochet) all worked into the same stitch and closed together at the top by pulling the yarn through all the loops on your hook.
Made from three, four or five stitches, bobbles are worked on the wrong-side rows of your crochet, you will see them 'pop out' at the back of your crochet as you work your row. They are usually surrounded by flat, solidly worked stitches to separate them and make them stand out.
